Overview
What This App Does
The EveryPeer app allows users to monitor the status and activity of their EveryPeer network nodes and, if opted in, contribute network measurement data from their device. This telemetry helps build a global view of internet routing quality and performance.
Data Collection
Information We Collect
The app requires an account to authenticate you and identify which nodes belong to you. We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:
- Email address and account credentials used to log in
- Node identifiers associated with your account
Network Measurement Data
What Telemetry We Collect
When you opt in to contribute network measurements, the app performs traceroute operations from your device and transmits the results to EveryPeer infrastructure. This telemetry includes:
- IP addresses of intermediate network hops along measured paths
- Latency and timing data at each hop
- Autonomous System Numbers (ASN) and routing identifiers
- Destination reachability results
- Measurement timestamps
This data reflects the network path from your device to target destinations. It does not include the content of any communications, your browsing history, or the substance of any network traffic passing through your device.
Measurement collection runs only when the app is active and you have opted in. You may withdraw consent at any time in app settings.
Location Data
How We Use Your Location
The app requests access to your device's location to associate network measurements with a geographic position. Location coordinates are collected at approximately 1 kilometer accuracy and transmitted to EveryPeer infrastructure along with your network measurement telemetry. This enables accurate regional network quality scoring and routing analysis tied to a known geographic area.
The app does not access precise GPS coordinates. Coordinates are truncated to two decimal places on-device before transmission, which limits geographic resolution to approximately 1 kilometer. Sub-meter or street-level precision is never collected or transmitted.
Location data is not used for advertising and is not sold as personal data. Aggregated and anonymized location-correlated measurements may be incorporated into network intelligence and ISP scoring products. Location access requires your explicit permission and is only active when the app is in use and you have opted in to network measurement contribution.
Camera Access
How We Use Your Camera
The app requests access to your device's camera solely to scan a QR code during the initial node registration process. The camera is not used for any other purpose. No images or video are captured, stored, or transmitted at any time.
What We Don't Collect
Information We Do Not Collect
The app does not collect or access any of the following:
- Contacts or address book
- Microphone or audio
- Browsing history or web content
- Device identifiers or advertising IDs
- The content of any communications passing through your network
Data Use
How Your Information Is Used
Account information is used to authenticate you and display the nodes associated with your account. Network measurement telemetry and location data are used to operate the EveryPeer platform, generate network performance analysis, and improve routing intelligence. Aggregated and anonymized telemetry may be incorporated into network research and intelligence products including ISP scorecards. Your personal information is not sold. For complete details on how telemetry data is used and shared, see the EveryPeer Data Usage Policy below.
Your Choices
You may opt out of network measurement contribution and location collection at any time in the app settings. Opting out stops all telemetry transmission from your device. It does not affect your ability to monitor your nodes or use other app features. You may also request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting [email protected].
Storage and Security
Data Storage
Account and measurement data is stored on EveryPeer infrastructure. We implement reasonable security safeguards including HTTPS encryption, access controls, and restricted data access. No system is completely secure. For full details see the Platform Privacy Policy below.
Platform Privacy Policy
EveryPeer ("EveryPeer", "we", "us", or "our") respects the privacy of users and node operators using the platform. These policies govern use of the EveryPeer platform located at https://everypeer.net.
Information We Collect
EveryPeer may collect:
Personal Information — Email address; account credentials; user identifiers; organization identifiers.
Technical Data — IP addresses; Autonomous System Numbers (ASN); network path telemetry; node identifiers; network measurement timestamps.
Automatically Collected Information — Browser type; device type; operating system; pages visited; session data.
EveryPeer collects network measurement metadata but does not collect the content of communications.
How We Use Data
Data is used to:
- operate the EveryPeer platform
- provide network diagnostics and routing visualization
- improve service performance
- detect abuse and unauthorized activity
- generate aggregated network intelligence
Data Sharing
EveryPeer does not sell personal data.
Data may be shared with:
- cloud infrastructure providers
- authentication providers
- analytics providers
Aggregated or anonymized network data may be publicly displayed.
Data Security
We implement reasonable safeguards including:
- HTTPS encryption
- access controls
- infrastructure monitoring
- restricted data access
However, no system is completely secure.
Data Retention
Data is retained only as long as necessary to operate the platform or comply with legal obligations.
Data Usage Policy
EveryPeer aggregates telemetry data for research and operational insights.
Public datasets may include:
